The National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education
(NITLE), a project of the Mellon Foundation, inaugurated
in 2002 a project to support course development and
teaching about the Arab world in liberal arts colleges.
Part of the massive online resource developed for that
project, known as "Al-Musharaka" (the Collaboration)
is available online.
Wikipedia's general entry, to which Muslim and non-Muslim
scholars around the world contribute, is a good place to start
learning about details of Islam, and a resource to have
handy as you proceed.
CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is a site
created and supported by American Muslims to provide
information about Islam and legal support for
American Muslims.
